Comox Valley Photographic Society
The Comox Valley Photographic Society is a club for photographers of varying skill levels who want to improve their craft and share their work. They meet twice monthly on the 2nd and 4th Thursday (taking a break in July and August) with a mix of activities: monthly competitions, member image sharing through their Image Expressions program, guest speakers on photography topics, “Bring Your Camera” and “Show and Tell” nights, and field trips to both local spots and more distant locations.
The club operates through a combination of structured learning and peer interaction. Special Interest Groups let members focus on specific photography styles or techniques together, and they showcase member work through galleries, competitions, and ImageFest. Members get access to benefits through the Canadian Association for the Photographic Arts and can participate in a private Groups.IO community for ongoing communication. The society is active on Facebook and Instagram, and members can host personal photography websites through the platform.
If you’re considering joining, they encourage you to attend a couple of meetings first to see if it’s a good fit before committing to membership. You can sign up at any meeting or reach them at [email protected]. The focus is on community learning and celebrating the skill and talent of members rather than any particular level of expertise.
