BC Transit - Comox Valley

BC Transit - Comox Valley

BC Transit runs the public bus system throughout the Comox Valley, operating seven fixed routes that connect Comox, Courtenay, and Cumberland. Routes cover major destinations like Comox Mall, Driftwood Mall, Anfield Centre, and North Island College, along with residential areas in Vanier, Uplands, and Arden. The system includes transit exchanges as central hubs, and they’re working on infrastructure improvements and a Transit Future Plan to expand service in the coming years.

Beyond regular buses, BC Transit offers handyDART—a specialized door-to-door service for people with disabilities, including a Taxi Saver option—and On Request service for areas not covered by fixed routes. All buses are low-floor or lift-equipped to accommodate mobility aids, with designated accessible stops throughout the system. They also run a Voice of the Rider Panel where community members can provide feedback on service.

Fare options are pretty flexible. Kids 12 and under ride free, and there are various passes including monthly passes, day passes, and programs aimed at students (Semester Pass, GradPASS), employees (ProPASS), and environmentally minded commuters (EcoPASS). The BC Bus Pass is also accepted. Cash fares and cash balance accounts are available if you prefer pay-as-you-go. New schedules and fares start January 1, 2026, so check their site for current details. BC Transit is part of a provincial network that serves over 57 million customers across British Columbia each year, with the Comox Valley system being one of the regional services keeping local residents moving.
