Comox Valley Coalition To End Homelessness

The Comox Valley Coalition To End Homelessness is a collaborative group working on one of the Valley’s tougher challenges: homelessness and the shortage of affordable housing. They bring together multiple partner organizations to plan, coordinate, and advocate for community responses. Think of them as the connective tissue between different groups and agencies trying to address the issue.

Their work covers several areas: helping coordinate housing options for people experiencing homelessness, running prevention-focused programs, public education and awareness campaigns, and making funding recommendations for the Comox Valley Regional District’s Homelessness Support Funds. The approach is client-centered, focusing on what people actually need rather than one-size-fits-all solutions.

Current priorities include creating more housing and support infrastructure, strengthening partnerships across the community, and building the Coalition’s own capacity to do this work. They publish reports and resources on their website and stay active on social media. It’s not easy work, but they’re tackling it through collaboration rather than any single organization going it alone.
