Comox Valley Community Health Network

The Comox Valley Community Health Network isn’t a service provider in the traditional sense, they’re a coordinating body that brings together multiple organizations and stakeholders to tackle health issues through collective action. Their focus is on the social determinants of health, meaning the conditions that affect wellbeing: housing, income, environment, access to support.

The network works on six priority areas: housing (promoting safe and affordable options), mental health wellness, poverty reduction through employment and income support, support for children and youth and families, environmental sustainability, and seniors wellness with age-friendly community development. Rather than running programs directly, they facilitate partnerships and collaboration between existing organizations to address these interconnected issues.

Their approach is community-driven, emphasizing that improving health outcomes is a shared responsibility across the Valley. If you’re working with an organization involved in any of these areas, the network provides a way to connect with others doing related work. They’re working with a vision of creating a connected community where people and places can thrive.
