Filberg Heritage Lodge and Park

Filberg Heritage Lodge and Park

Filberg Heritage Lodge and Park is a nine-acre waterfront heritage site in Comox managed by the Filberg Heritage Lodge and Park Association. The property was designated a municipal heritage site in 1979 and is owned by the Town of Comox. The centerpiece is a 4,000 square-foot Arts and Crafts residence constructed in the early 1930s, originally home to logging industrialist Robert Filberg and his wife Florence. The lodge features steep gables, leaded glass windows, hand-hewn cedar exteriors, and interiors emphasizing local wood and stone work by master craftsmen.

The grounds include landscaped gardens with rare and exotic trees, a stream, numerous flowerbeds, walking paths, and meadows perfect for strolls and picnics. Visitors can explore the Cutting Garden, visit the seasonal Comox Hands On Farm, shop for vintage and locally crafted items in the gift shop, or simply enjoy the waterfront setting. The park also serves as a wedding and special events venue.

Annual events include the Filberg Festival (an outdoor juried arts and crafts show), Christmas at Filberg with seasonal light displays, and Easter at Filberg. The park operates with vehicle gates open from 8am to 4pm, with pedestrian access available after 4pm through the Comox Avenue gate. Note that dogs are not permitted in the park. It’s a beautifully maintained heritage property that functions as both a cultural site and community gathering space.
